Interesting Saturday
***Please note, the names in the following article have been changed due to the delicate nature of this report.
Saturday morning my sister, who shall be known as "Clyde" called me, ("Bonnie") and asked if I wanted to help her move some articles out of a house. I should explain that this house belongs to a friend who had just recently moved out but
"Clyde" had a few belongings there that she needed to get moved out, so I said I would help even though I had big plans for the day, (drink coffee, read the paper, etc....)After a couple stops at sales we arrived at the house. "Clyde" had the keys and we entered the house, "Clyde" immediately went to the Security system and punched in the numbers, we proceeded to pack up when a brain-numbing alarm went off, at the same time the phone rang. We thought it was probably the Company calling and we could tell them that it was all a mistake, but no one answered. Finally the alarm shut off and we went on with our work. I was stationed outside, putting stuff in the car while "Clyde" was inside packing, when to my surprise 2 police cars pulled up and 3 policemen approached and asked what was going on. "Clyde" explained the situation but they looked in the car and checked her license plate which came up "BAD" because she had just recently purchased the get-away car and it came up as plates belonging on a Ford Explorer. So any hoo after some more questioning and investigation,
we were cuffed and put in lock-up, oops, I'm sorry, that last part is not true, I just get carried away with my stories!
I have the utmost repect for police officers and others that are there to serve and protect BUT, if this had been a real robbery in progress, the perps ( that is legalese for "Bad Guys") would have had time to load up all the silver, jewelry, electronic equipment, the urn with great-aunt Emma's remains and the family dog and been out of state before the cops got there. Their response time left a little to be desired. Also if this had been a home invasion situation where the "Perps" had intended bodily harm to the occupants, the cops would have got there in time to only identify the victims. So if you have a home security alarm system, don't rely on immediate help! Wishing you good sleep tonight! "Bonnie"
